In Memoriam
David F. Tepool, 54, of Newburgh, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital due to complications related to cardiac arrest. David F.
Tepool was credited as co-author of the FASA RPG and was the creator of the
much-loved Star Trek Starship Tactical Combat Simulator. David had not been
active in game design in a number of years, but he returned to the game industry
a few years ago as the owner of Olde Rivertowne Miniatures, a mail-order minis
firm based in his home town of Newburgh, IN. He was born October 20, 1954, to Leo Edgar and Georgianna (Schmitt) Tepool in Evansville. He is most famous for his leading role in designing Star Trek: The Role-Playing Game. He also wrote a considerable portion of many of the original AD&D adventure modules. He hadn't been involved in game design for many years until he founded Olde Rivertowne Miniatures and had intended to open a game shop, a long-time goal of his.
He worked for 30 plus years at Kenny Kent starting out washing cars working his way up to controller. He loved reading and gaming, and designing games, he ran a part-time business, Olde Rivertowne Miniatures, and he was interested in military history, especially the Air Force. He was a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Evansville. |
