29th Millennium The Emperor unites the tribes of Man, established his capital on Terra Primus. Lyubov recovers most of the technology it enjoyed during the Dark Age of Technology
30th Millennium The Emperor creates the Space Marines and Primarchs, embarks on the Great Crusade. The Imperium begins.
31st Millennium Horus Heresy. Horus is defeated and the Emperor ascends the Golden Throne. Codex Astartes re-organizes Space Marines into Chapters. Imperial Army split into the Imperial Navy and the Imperial Guard.
36th Millennium Age of Apostasy. Lyubov and the other Outreaumer Worlds liberated by Valhallan Army and the Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter. Valhallan exiles resettled on Lyubov. Lyubov continues to adhere to Dark Angels religious opinion rather than the teachings of the Ecclesiarchy.

39th Millennium Defeat of the Skulla Cult (Genestealer Cult) on Lyubov by Imperial Guard forces.
40th Millennium First contact with Tyranids on Taron (a hostile mining world). Lyubov forces successfully evacuate the miners but do not engage the Tyranids.

Tyranid splinter fleet Drakken is defeated two centuries later at Saphet.

41st Millennium First Armageddon War, Battle of Macragge: Ultramarines defeat Hive Fleet Behemoth (Lyubov  and Maccabee forces assist the Ultramarines).

Second Armageddon War. Lyubov guardsmen aid in the defense of Aramageddon, During the 12th Dark Jihad, Chaos forces overrun much of the Outreaumer Worlds. Lyubov falls but several arcologies remain in Imperial hands, Chaos occupiers are never able to consolidate their position.

Lyubov is liberated by a lightning counter-offensive lead by General Carnhide and rejoins the Imperium. Under the terms of the re-integration Lyubov and her sister worlds in the Outreaumer are guaranteed tolerance of their religious and cultural autonomy in return for political adhesion to the Imperium. For over two centuries the Imperium keeps its word and Lyubov forces assisted in the Defense of Piscina IV and defended the Imperium in the 3rd Armageddon War and in the 13th Dark Crusade.

The Empire of Outreaumer is an autonomous state governed by a Tsar elected by its Douma of Great Houses. Also, like most vassal states of the Imperium, the Empire of Outreaumer is internally independent and as such doesn't agree with the Imperium on a wide variety of issues.

Unit History

The Ice River Guards are structured to enable a wide variety of combat roles to be undertaken in either planetary orbit or on surface. Consequently the Ice River Guards are a very closely integrated organization and are extremely well equipped when compared to most other specialist forces.

Like all light infantry regiments of the Gilead Household Military, the Ice River Guards incorporates a significant Special Operations capability. The Ice River Guards Regiment is possessed of great flexibility, and can undertake a wide variety of operations in all environmental conditions, including zero-G and vacuum.

In outline the Regiment consists of a regimental HQ, and three battalions. A regimental headquarters controls three battalion headquarters. The Battalions are identical. A battalion command controlling two drop infantry companies and an armored cavalry company.

Every Regiment is proud of its Regimental History. The Ice River Guards Regiment is no exception. From the formation of the 1st Pioneer Regiment, in the 36th millennium when House Gilead was founded, through to today, the Light Infantry and its antecedent Regiments have distinguished themselves in often untold honor.

The 18th Lyubov traces its lineage, as do all Lyubov units, to the first settlement of the planet by human colonists. The colonization project was underwritten by a consortium of investors known as the Gilead Group who became the progenitors of House Gilead. The Lyubov system is particularly rich in resources and several bodies in the system boast installations of one sort or another.

While the Gileadi military establishment fields variety of spaceborne and ground-based forces, including power armored troops and several squadrons of starships it is for their Light Infantry that they are most famous.

House Gilead Light Infantry have defended the Outreaumer in over a hundred engagements against xenos aggression, depredations from renegade Is'Malali raiders and several Tyranid and Arachnid incursions.
