Commander's CornerPrivyet Tovarich, Well, this update is a few days late. Sorry, but we had my daughter's Bat Mitzvah over the first, but now the out-of-town family has all gone home and finally I get some much needed hobby time. As a result, we have a decent sized update this month. If you want to look at previous updates, look at the related pages links to the right. I will archive a year's worth of updates for your reference pleasure. I have done a mini-update. On 4 March 2008, Gary Gygax - the father of modern gaming - died of heart failure. Like most of you, I first got involved in gaming by play D&D. While it's been over a decade since I have had the chance to play D&D, I will never forget the hours and hours of enjoyment I got from playing that game. I met Gary in 2001 and got to say thank you. Gary once said "I would like the world to remember me as the guy who really enjoyed playing games and sharing his knowledge and his fun pastimes with everybody else." No doubt, he will be. Go with G-d, Gary. You will be missed. This month month we turn the spotlight on Imperial Religion with a brand new section of the site devoted to it. My baccalaureate is in Ethics (concentration in World Religion) so I have an interest in such things. There is no question that religion plays a vital role in the Holy Terran Empire. One of the most prevalent and referred to but least explored areas of the Warhammer 40,000 universe is that of religious belief. Check it out, it's almost a site by itself. I have looked at 14 Ecclesiarchal cults and another 4 cults of the Adeptus Mechanicus. For those of you more interested in Forbidden Cults, we also have a section on Chaos Cults. Read at your own risk. Did you ever wonder where Commissars come from? Well, we take a look at the recruitment and training of commissars in a new addition to the Regimental Library. I added some more sketches of Uniforms and Equipment as well (ya gotta love Adobe Image Suite CS3). I also created some new Propaganda posters (to keep up morale on the home front). I have expanded the optional Campaign rules to cover logistics - a vital part of any military campaign. Additionally, the basics of the Jieshi Is'Malal section of the site is now up and comments are welcome. My Islamic Space Marines will, once the army is built, become worthy opponents for my Ice River Guards. I have never built a Space Marine or Chaos Marine army but finally I gave in to the Dark Side and took the plunge. I was originally going to keep the Chaos Marines on their own site, but since they will never become an apocalypse sized army like my Ice River Guards I incorporated them into this site. Pay particular attention to the Brides - the Chosen of the Legion - this unit has come together nicely and will no doubt be the centerpiece of this new army. Conceived under the previous Codex and executed under the current one, this army is a deliberate parody of the religious extremists currently plaguing the Middle East and the rest of the world (see disclaimer on the CSM Page before sending hate mail). The modeling borrows ideas from popular fiction, today's headlines and my own fevered imagination. Some detailing of Lyubovite culture is also on tap for this month. This section will see some real expansion over the coming months. Ever wonder what happened when in the official history? I have compiled a history with a focus on the Calixis Sector that is home to Lyubov. See y'all around April Fool's Day! Dosvedanya,
