May 10, 2265 U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701) departs on a five year exploration mission under Captain James T. Kirk. February 12, 2267 (Stardate 1709.1) Romulan Star Empire tests a new cloaking device on a deep penetration raid against the Federation. The raider is tracked down and destroyed by the U.S.S. Enterprise. (Balance of Terror TOS) June 12, 2268 (Stardate 2817.6) Kodos the Executioner was discovered using the alias Anton Karidian on the Benecia Colony. He is killed during attempts by Starfleet to apprehend him. July 28 2268 (Stardate 2947.3) James T. Kirk is accused of murder when the Enterprise's records officer, Lt. Commander Finney, is apparently jettisoned during a violent ion storm which threatened the ship. Kirk insists that he gave Finney even more time than safely allowed to get out of the jettisoned ion pod, yet the Enterprise computer's records show that Kirk discarded the pod, and Finney, while only at yellow alert when there was no sign of actual danger. Kirk challenges the findings of the computer and is court-martialed, with accusations that earlier rivalries with Finney when both were new officers caused Kirk to act maliciously. Samuel Cogley, Esq. is able to prove that Lt. Finney doctored the computer record in an attempt to frame Kirk and faked his own death. May 26 2268 (Stardate 3087.6) First contact with the Gorn Assembly at Cestus III June 30 2268 (Stardate 3141.9) U.S.S. Enterprise recovers the S.S. Botany Bay carrying Khan Noonien Singh and his henchmen into exile. They are marooned on Ceti Alpha V at their own request. July 20, 2268 (Stardate 3196.1) First Contact with the Horta of Janus IV July 21, 2268 (Stardate 3198.4) Abortive Organian Conflict is ended when the Organians imposed the Organia Treaty on both the Federation and the Klingon Empire. August 22, 2268 (Stardate 3287.2) Earth colony on Deneva is attacked by Neural Parasites. Infestation is cleared due to the timely reaction of the U.S.S. Enterprise. September 11, 2268 (Stardate 3372.2) Altair VI is re-unified following a devastating civil war October 28, 2268 (Stardate 3468.1) U.S.S. Enterprise encounters a superbeing who was once worshipped as the Greek god Apollo. November 7, 2268 (Stardate 3497.2) Teer Leonard James Akaar is born on Capella IV after Starfleet foils a coup attempt instigated by the Klingon Empire. February 14, 2269 (Stardate 3842.3) Orion pirates attempt to disrupt the Fifth Babel Conference, convened to consider the admission of Coridan to the Federation. During the Orion action, Ambassador Gav of Tellar is murdered by an Orion agent surgically altered to look like an Andorian who took the nom d'guerre Thelev and infiltrated the Andorian diplomatic corps. July 23, 2269 (Stardate 4202.9) U.S.S. Constellation (NCC-1017) is lost with all hands destroying a Planet Killer device built by a now extinct alien race. November 17, 2269 (Stardate 4523.3) Klingon Imperial Intelligence attempts to sabotage Federation efforts to develop Sherman's Planet. The plot is uncovered but the timely (albeit unwitting) action of Cyrano Jones. (The Trouble With Tribbles TOS) May 5, 2272 (Stardate 6987.1) U.S.S. Enterprise returns to Earth completing her historic mission. Starfleet begins a major overhaul of the Enterprise which takes 30 months during which time the Enterprise chronometers are stopped but not reset since Starfleet wants to build on the PR bonanza the Enterprise has become. The chronometers are restarted May 29, 2274 when Enterprise is recommissioned. Spock leaves Starfleet to pursue Kohlinar on Vulcan while McCoy returns to private practice in rural Georgia. August 14, 2272 Admiral Kor leads a Klingon fleet to victory over the Romulans at the battle of Klach D'kel Brakt. (100 years before 'Blood Oath' TNG) December 2272 The terraforming project at the planet Caldos is completed. The planet is a Scottish colony. (nearly a century before "Sub Rosa TNG) 2273 Ambassador Sarek of Vulcan begins working on a treaty with the Legarans. (93 years prior to "Sarek" TNG) October 31, 2274 (Stardate 7412.4) An "energy cloud" of unknown origin and intent has carved a path of destruction through the galaxy on a direct course for Earth, having destroyed a flotilla of Klingon ships as well as Federation communications relay station Epsilon 9. Charged with investigating the cloud, Admiral Kirk convinces Starfleet to give him command of the recently refit starship Enterprise, displacing its new Captain, Willard Decker, to the position of first officer. The source of the cloud turns out to be the errant NASA probe Voyager 6. Enterprise is able to divert the V'ger cloud (ST:TMP) October 31, 2278 (Stardate 11412.4) Enterprise returns from a 4 year goodwill mission under Admiral Kirk and is reassigned to the training fleet attached to Starfleet Academy under the command of Captain Spock. Kirk is promoted to chief of Starfleet Operations. With her reassignment, the Enterprise chronometers are reset in accordance with standard Starfleet procedures. (conjecture) 2280 At the battle of Caleb-IV, Klingon forces led by Kang and Kor win a great victory over Federation forces. This was one of the first uses of the Klingon cloaking device in combat, and was used aboard the old D-5 class Klingon cruisers. Kor was commanding the Klothos at the time. (date is speculation based on events mentioned in "Once More Into the Breach" - placing this event here may help explain the level of hostility between UFP and Klingon forces in Star Trek III) 2281 Admiral Kirk retires from Starfleet (ST: Gen) September 10, 2281 Saavik enters Starfleet Academy (conjecture) 2284 Kirk, staying at his uncle's farm in Iowa, meets Antonia. The two fall deeply in love. Antonia dies, heartbroken Kirk returns to Starfleet the following year (eleven years before the 23rd century segment in Star Trek Generations) 2285 Kirk returns to Starfleet as an instructor at Starfleet Academy. He moves back to San Francisco from Iowa. (date is conjecture based on Star Trek Generations, Star Trek II) 2285 Torias Dax, who had been living as a joined Trill for less than a year, is killed in a fatal shuttle accident. The Dax symbiont survived, and was joined with Joran Belar, the sixth host, to become Joran Dax. Joran had been previously deemed unsuitable as a host but was mistakenly accepted by the Trill Symbiosis Commission as an initiate. ("Equilibirum" - DS9) December 16, 2285 - March 20, 2286 (Stardate 8130.4-8390.0) Events of Star Trek II, III and IV (Star Trek IV was set 78 years prior to the events of Encounter at Farpoint (TNG) according to next generation promotional material). January 14, 2286 (Stardate 8210.3) U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701) is lost off Genesis Planet March 20, 2286 (Stardate 8390.0) After living on Vulcan under asylum protection arranged by Ambassador Sarek for nearly 3 months, Admiral Kirk and his co-conspirators agree to return to Earth to face charges. On the way, they engage in a temporal jump to retrieve a breeding pair of humpback whales from late 20th century Earth to prevent an alien probe from destroying the Earth's ecosphere. Kirk is demoted to captain and assigned to the newly commissioned U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701A). September 26, 2295 (Stardate 9521.6) Praxis, a minor satellite of Klinzhai, explodes forcing the Klingon Empire to seek detente with the Federation at the First Khitomer Conference. October 31, 2295 (Stardate 9617.42) After only 9.6 years of active service, Enterprise-A is decommissioned and paid off. The name is reassigned to a new Excelsior-class vessel before year's end.
