Star Fleet Awards and Decorations

Ribbon Medal Decoration Tier
Grankite Order of Tactics: Created to honor Admiral Robert April after the battle of Grank IV during the Four Years War the Grankite Order recognizes success in the arena of naval combat tactics beyond any reasonable expectation.  It is awarded in three classes; Nova, Excellence, and General.

Nova is awarded to fleet commanders, Excellence to commanders of warp capable vessels and General to commanders of non-warp capable vessels (including fighters and system defense boats)

1

Legion of Honor: The Legion of Honor is awarded to all members of the Armed Forces of the United Federation of Planets without reference to degree for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements. The performance must have been such as to merit recognition of key individuals for service rendered in a clearly exceptional manner. Performance of duties normal to the grade, branch, specialty or assignment, and experience of an individual is not an adequate basis for this award. For service not related to actual war the term "key individual" applies to a narrower range of positions than in time of war and requires evidence of significant achievement. In peacetime, service should be in the nature of a special requirement or of an extremely difficult duty performed in an unprecedented and clearly exceptional manner. However, justification of the award may accrue by virtue of exceptionally meritorious service in a succession of important positions. 2

Medal of Honor: The Supreme Assembly Medal of Honor is awarded to a person who, while a member of the armed forces of the United Federation of Planets, distinguishes himself conspicuously by bravery and valor at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the Federation; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force. The deed performed must have been one of personal bravery or self-sacrifice so conspicuous as to clearly distinguish the individual above his comrades and must have involved risk of life. Incontestable proof of the performance of the service will be exacted. N/A
Palm Leaf of the Axanar Peace Mission: Awarded for service in any action determined to be in "the interests of peace and humane relief" by the Federation Council. 3
Prentaries Ribbon of Commendation: Awarded to members of the armed forces of the United Federation of Planets who, while serving in any capacity with the Federation, shall have distinguished themselves by meritorious achievement and service. The degree of merit must be distinctive, though it need not be unique. Acts of courage which do not involve the voluntary risk of life may be considered for the Commendation award. 3
Silver Palm: Awarded to a person who, while serving in any capacity with the armed forces of the United Federation of Planets, is cited for gallantry in action against an enemy of the United Federation of Planets while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force, or while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United Federation of Planets is not a belligerent party. The required gallantry, while of a lesser degree than that required for award of the Distinguished Service Cross, must nevertheless have been performed with marked distinction. 3
Citation for Conspicuous Gallantry: Awarded for extraordinary heroism, not justifying the award of a Decoration for Distinguished Service, to any person who, while a member of the armed forces of the United Federation of Planets engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force against an enemy of the Federation. The act or acts of heroism must have been so notable and have involved risk of life so extraordinary as to set the individual apart from his or her comrades. 3
Citation for Distinguished Service: The Citation for Distinguished Service is awarded to service members who, while serving in any capacity with the armed forces of the United Federation of Planets, distinguish themselves by exceptionally meritorious service to the Government in a duty of great responsibility. 3
Distinguished Service Cross: Awarded to a person who, while serving in any capacity with the armed forces of the United Federation of Planets, distinguishes himself or herself by extraordinary heroism not justifying the award of a Medal of Honor; while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United Federation of Planets; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing/foreign force; or while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing Armed Force in which the United Federation of Planets is not a belligerent party. The act or acts of heroism must have been so notable and have involved risk of life so extraordinary as to set the individual apart from his or her comrades.

2
Decoration for Distinguished Service: Awarded for exceptionally distinguished performance of duty contributing to Federation security or defense at the highest levels while assigned to a joint activity. The Starfleet Command Decoration for Distinguished Service may also be awarded to other senior officers whose direct and individual contributions to Federation security or defense are recognized as being so exceptional in scope and value as to be equivalent to contributions normally associated with positions encompassing broader responsibilities. The Starfleet Command Decoration for Distinguished Service is the highest peacetime honor bestowed by Starfleet 2
Starfleet Command Honor Roll: Awarded to honors and high honors graduates of the Starfleet Academy N/A
Starfleet Proficiency Decoration: (Starfleet Surgeon's Decoration shown) awarded to members of the armed forces of the United Federation of Planets who demonstrate extreme proficiency in their primary MOS 3

Starfleet Wound Decoration: awarded in the name of the President of the United Federation of Planets to any member of an Armed Force who, while serving with the armed services of the United Federation of Planets who has been wounded or killed, or who has died or may hereafter die after being wounded;

(1) In any action against an enemy of the United Federation of Planets;

(2) In any action with an opposing armed force of a foreign country in which the Armed Forces of the United Federation of Planets are or have been engaged;

(3) While serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United Federation of Planets is not a belligerent party;

(4) As a result of an act of any such enemy of opposing armed forces;

(5) As the result of an act of any hostile foreign force;

(6) As a result of an interstellar terrorist attack against the United Federation of Planets or a foreign power friendly to the United Federation of Planets, recognized as such an attack by the Secretary of the department concerned, or jointly by the Secretaries of the departments concerned if persons from more than one department are wounded in the attack; or,

(7) As a result of military operations, while serving outside the territory of the United Federation of Planets as part of a peacekeeping force.

(8) By weapon fire while directly engaged in armed conflict, regardless of the fire causing the wound.

N/A

Karagite Order of Heroism: Awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity with the Armed Forces of the United Federation of Planets, distinguishes himself by heroism or extraordinary achievement. The performance of the act of heroism must be evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty. The extraordinary achievement must have resulted in an accomplishment so exceptional and outstanding as to clearly set the individual apart from his comrades or from other persons in similar circumstances. Awards will be made only to recognize single acts of heroism or extraordinary achievement and will not be made in recognition of sustained operational activities against an armed enemy. 1
Bronze Palm: Awarded to any person who, while serving in any capacity in or with the military of the United Federation of Planets, distinguished himself or herself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United Federation of Planets; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United Federation of Planets is not a belligerent party.

b. Awards may be made for acts of heroism, performed under circumstances described above, which are of lesser degree than required for the award of the Silver Palm.

c. Awards may be made to recognize single acts of merit or meritorious service. The required achievement or service while of lesser degree than that required for the award of the Legion of Honor must nevertheless have been meritorious and accomplished with distinction.
3
Starfleet Cross: Awarded to any person who, while serving with the Starfleet or its Marine Corps, distinguishes himself in action by extraordinary heroism not justifying an award of the Medal of Honor. The action must take place under one of three circumstances: while engaged in action against an enemy of the United Federation of Planets; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or, while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict in which the United Federation of Planets is not a belligerent party. To earn a Starfleet Cross the act to be commended must be performed in the presence of great danger or at great personal risk and must be performed in such a manner as to render the individual highly conspicuous among others of equal grade, rate, experience, or position of responsibility. An accumulation of minor acts of heroism does not justify an award of the Starfleet Cross. 1
 The Prisoner of War Medal: issued only to those UFP military personnel who were taken prisoner and held captive after 11 October 2161;

(1) While engaged in an action against an enemy of the United Federation of Planets;

(2) While engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or

(3) While serving with friendly forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing force in which the United Federation of Planets is not a belligerent party.

b. Civilians who have been credited with military service which included the period of captivity are also eligible for the medal.

c. Hostages of terrorists and persons detained by governments with which the United Federation of Planets is not engaged actively in armed conflict are not eligible for the medal.

Meritorious Service Medal: Awarded to members of the Armed Forces of the United Federation of Planets who distinguished themselves by outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement or service to the United Federation of Planets. Normally, the acts or services rendered must be comparable to that required for the Legion of Honor but in a duty of lesser though considerable responsibility. 3
Superior Service Medal: The Superior Service Medal (SSM) shall be awarded only to members of the Armed Forces of the United Federation of Planets who rendered superior meritorious service in a position of significant responsibility. Only under the most unusual circumstances will SSM be awarded as an impact award for outstanding achievement. The SSM is specifically intended to recognize exceptionally superior service, and to honor an individual's accomplishments over a sustained period. 2
