Awards and Decorations

In the Classic episode "Court Martial", the computer reads out the service record of Captain Kirk and we learn (among other things) that he has a chest-full of shiny medals to go with his sterling service record. In her seminal work, The Star Trek Concordance, Bjo Trimble even told us what medals went with those little colored triangles on the classic era dress uniforms.

To determine if a character is eligible for a decoration during character generation, look at the OER for each term. Since the the OER (officer efficiency report - in case you don't have your rulebook handy) represents the ratings sent back to Starfleet Command (or the Klingon High Command or whatever) they should also effect the chances of a character being decorated by the service.

For OER in the 1-10th percentile, there is a chance of decoration.

Roll on the following table

01-50: Commendation
51-75: Tier III Decoration
76-90: Tier II Decoration
91+   : Tier I Decoration

DM:

LUC 70+: +5
LUC 25- : -5

OER 1-5th percentile: +5

Current Tour in Galaxy Exploration Command (or Equivalent): +5

See Decorations pages for Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Empire or Cardassian Union for appropriate decorations
